Calstar GX-7 with thread from down unda

Just finished this Calstar GX 7 for a customer. Whats up with all the green and purple colors people are wanting lately I did this rod with the Marlin Bros Thread from Austrailia. This thread is great stuff and real cheap, Just wish it came in size A instead of C. On another note, Calstar blanks are really going downhill fast. The last 4 or 5 Calstars I've wrapped and everyone I've picked up and looked at lately all have a slight bend or twist in them. To the point they about rattle my Clemens (bolted down) machine off the work bench. I wish those guys would quit riding on their past reputation and retool already, I'm trying to talk my customers out of Calstar and go with Seeker in the future

Looks sweet. I don't have much experience with Cal-Star rods but the only one I have wrapped was a GX-7 for my dad that he won in a raffle. Same thing, pretty sharp bend towards the tip. Luckily the tip was bent on the same side that the spine was on so it worked out I guess.

I think I'm going to try and score some of that thread now.

Seeker may not be any different. Guy I know back East built a matching set of 4 Seeker rods for a customer. The blank dimensions and actions were all over the place, for supposedly identical blanks.

I've wrapped several Seeker SJ 90 Fs lately and they were all at least straight, The lenths varied about 1/2 in though

Very nice looking rod. I've noticed it in the Calstars too, but only the graphite rods. I have a 900m and 2 900L that have a slight bend at the last 3 or so inches of the tip. The last issue of rod maker has an article that touches on altering blank memory, but it's not something I really feel comfortable attempting...

the case I know was that the diameters varied quite a bit, and so, the actions varied too.
