| Anybody used this thread?
I got this stuff on ebay. 100 spools for 110 bucks and I love it. It has colors similar to Madera and is called "C" thread but seems smaller than Gudebrod C. It's a bit softer and burnishes out really well. I havent put finish on it yet but almost done with a rod where I used it so the final test will be soon

I used something that looks similar--no branded spools, and it worked well, but got really funky when I put Color Preserver on it.
Let us know what happens when you put whatever finish on that you plan to use.
The colors look awesome though...

The colors look awesome though... | It's supposed to be NCP but I put CP on it any way and it so far works fine. I'll be using Tread Master on it which is touchy stuff anyway so we'll see Quote:

How many yards are on each spool? I just read your thread and looked on ebay for it. It seems like there's something similar on auction right now from Australia. Colors look bad ass. The thread on ebay right now says 100 yds per spool. Either way its a pretty smokin' deal.

Bill,
I was told they used that thread on the sails of this boat. I saw it when I was down in PR last week. At least, I think that's what they said, my Spanish is rusty...

One of the omissions I note is that it doesn't say whether the thread is nylon, poly, rayon, or what. If the stuff is poly, it becomes real interesting to me. Would then be like thick Madiera. Still interesting if nylon too, though I prefer poly.
Sent a note off to the guy, so will see what the response is.
Bill,,,, ThreadMaster is 'touchy'. How so?

Bill,,,, ThreadMaster is 'touchy'. How so? | It dosent feel like poly or nylon, It's easy to work with. Thread Master is prone to fish eye easier than most finishes I've used, But I like the stuff and just take extra precautions. Just my observations Dave, Maybe you could do a 6 month analysis and comparison testing session to tell us all why

I pretty much only use ThreadMaster, and have an environment nearly guaranteed to invoke fisheyes. I used to get them a lot, sometimes to where it was more fisheyes than anything else. Now rarely:
* I wipe the wraps lightly with some alcohol now for a quick cleaning, and let dry for something like 10 minutes
* I put down a thin 'primer' coat of TM Lite, just enough to saturate/cover the surface, and let that set up
* I overcoat soon as I can after the prior coat sets, using TM or TM Lite. Waiting too long between coats with TM causes fisheyes too, with the old epoxy repelling the new.
