Lots of options David. Thread, wood, epoxy ramps, stainless steel come to mind. I'm in Los Barriles if you need help with something.

checking

if i were to lathe a piece from a piece of grip foam, what happens if you coat that with rod epoxy?

i just finished 2 rods with wood and cork handles and i clear coated them and they look great and do not get slippery when wet

Turks heads are in at the moment
I've turned my own out of aluminum bar
Have also used crutch tips that I've sliced n diced a little

I tend to have a theme for a rod, and then figure out the bits that fit that theme.

probably too late for your build, but this idea came compliments of capt g. aluminum anodized chain. thanks for the cool idea and samples capt g.
