Split Grip Question

Planning on wrapping a few bass rods and wanted to try poodle gripping it.

Does the eva have to be loose on the rod or pretty tight?

Thanks

I do lots of split grip bass rods with EVA. I ream the EVA very similar to cork, not overly tight but somewhat snug when slid into place. I use Rod Bond so if it's a little tight the glue will help in positioning. Randy.

What he said, I like it just a bit thinner so it stops just a bit of where it needs to be, the glue gets it the rest of the way.
