X-rubber

is a great material for rods.
But it has many other great applications.
I posted this in the reel forum, but since many of you rod crafters use this material, I thought I would share it here too.
I have been putting it on the handles on my jigging reels, and it works スバらしい。
Here it goes.
Ocea Jigger EV 2500HG?

Mine just came in today, and I am winding on 300 yards of 60 lb. spectra, with 4 fathoms of 40 lb. fluoro leader (I like looooong leaders/topshots) to be used for yo yo (butt-er- flyClick the image to open in full size.) jigging.
The only drawback is that there in not holes mount a clamp for use with corktape reelseats. I planned on putting it a custom rod with one of the Fuji PSS type reel seats anyway. I have a yellowtail (buri, and hiramasa) trip on the 26th of this month, so I am gearing up for the start of the yellowtail season.

I put a 'meatball' handle grip thingy on it. Just because I can.

Hey G,

The pics aren't coming up on my end.

Here's a question for you since you're obviously closer to the source than we are. I need a new supplier for shrink tube. The source that we used for years seems to be going down faster than a prom date (hasn't been even CLOSE to a delivery date all year, doesn't answer the phone or return calls, etc...). I'm guessing he's about done.

There are only two other domestic sources. One is a competitor so that's out, and the other's prices are all over the map from order to order. The only manufacturer that I can find in Asia has a 2500 meter minimum and the pricing's just "okay" by the time we land it. Certainly not cheap enough to justify the $20,000 minimum.

Any ideas? I'd gladly take care of you if you can put us on to a solid source. That goes for anyone else reading this too!
