Reel Marble

Here's a few pics of a reel that I finished up today. I'd torn it apart a few months ago to marble, but didn't get time to do it until recently. I suppose I've got ~ 12 hours into it all-in-all. I used all Jacquard's Pearl Ex powdered pigments on this one.

Very nice Randy.... Boy if I took something apart 3 months ago, I'd have a hard time putting it back together!!

Pretty stuff Putter. I'm wondering on the actual mechanics of doing a reel tho. Do you mask the flat mating surfaces first? For the more 3D pieces like the drag star, what are you using to hold the piece?

Nothing was masked on this one, Dave. I find the marbling, as long as the base coat isn't TOO thick, won't move to dry areas that weren't initially covered with finish. No migration occurs into screw holes and such.
For the more 3D pieces like the drag star, what are you using to hold the piece?
I've got a lot of pieces of rod blanks from repairs that I've done and I just put one of those that fits tightly into the holes on the piece I'm marbling and hold onto that.
Some pieces don't have holes. I just tape on flat sticks so I can hold those.
