Batson blanks

Hello,

I wanted to see what you guys thought about the rainshadow saltwater livebait blanks?(RCLB80XL 8' 10-25lb msrp. $45.64) For the price most of the blanks Batson Enterprises make seem like a great rod for someone new to rod building.

Hi Chris I have the 80L and recently made an 80XL for a good friend and they are both terrific blanks. I had originally planned on using the 80L in Baja for throwing iron to yellows but ended up using it for a bit of everything. Handled big baits for Marlin and Makos. Though a long it was very user friendly. Landed a marling in less than 7 minutes in a private boat (without backing down) Try em you will love it. I am getting many more.

I agree with Doc, I really like their blanks. I use an 8' SW967 for myself that I made as a spinner and a 70L for my son as a spinner as well. All the rods I built for other people on various Batson blanks have resulted on zero complaints. I'm getting ready to build a FW bass rod on a Rainshadow. I think the quality and price are top notch. I have heard nothing but good things said about the Rainshadow composit blanks. I have built on a Forecast glass blank (swb76h) and it's a good light jig & 30# bait stick. The blank loads well throwing Tady c's and such. Good blanks for the $$$.

I have the RCLB80XL which is rated 10-25 i also have the Calstar 800XL and i can't tell the difference between them pretty good prices for a quality blank

I have a rclb70L upstairs to build. I saw them at the workshop in Woodland some months back. It is rated the same as the Calstar 270, but overall I'd say it is stiffer. I'll be fishing it alongside a 270 this summer to make a good comparison. I've fished several different Rainshadow blanks for Sturgeon and Salmon XBB962, xbb964, and SWS597 and they have been very nice to fish with. I'll probably build a couple trolling sticks this winter with some of their other blanks like the TS66MH or FSU60XH.

bill's right. all of the batson products are very good . the blanks have the best finish out of all the blanks i've used and the guides and reel seats are second to none. 25# and under use the ud guides and 30# up use the alps guides. you can get all their stuff at acid rod in so cal or you might try utmost.com also.
