Rod Dryer

Finally got around to finishing my homemade rod drier. Sort of copied a current design, but it holds 5 rods. Made of plexiglass and arcrylic, with pvc couplers to hold the rods. Thanks to Don for the "wiring" lesson.... his way was a lot neater! Only problem is the damn thing shows all the fingerprints!!

Looks sweet, what rpm are you running them at?

There are 4 running at 30 rpm, and one running at 9 rpm. I have other dryers that run slower that I use when applying finish. Once the fiinish is applied I'll transfer them to this dryer to "finish" them off. I'll usually let them dry overnight in "rack" if needed.

If the finger prints are on the acrylic/plexiglass or PVC, you can professionally cover them up by spraying the parts with Krylon Fusion for plastics. This is a new product made specifically for coloring plastic. It is not a paint. It actually fuses on to the surface and becomes integral with the part and will not peel or flake off.

It comes in many various colors and does not require any surface preparation, such as sanding or priming. You can buy it at most hardware stores. I got mine at Denaults Hardware store.

Always try something new on a scrap part first.

nice dryer ken. Will you apply on another dryer, then transfer to the rack to prevent spillage on your new unit. Or just apply directly from the new rack?
