Anyone familiar with old octagon Trulines?

I am trying to identify the approximate year this rod may have been built. It is a 6'6" octagon ..... it was evidently custom wrapped by The Jig Stop in Dana Point but I contacted them and they plead ignorance that far back. Also on the blank is "Truline 6X" and below that "15 to 80# test". This rod was given to me by a friend over 25 years ago and was a bit used looking then (he wasn't the original owner). So it has to date back probably to the 70's or even late 60's (The Jig Stop opened I think in '66). Anyone have any better clues than me?

Thanks

Its pretty old and used and I'd like to help you out so I'll give you a new rod in exchange for your old rod just to make things easier on you. PM your address and I'll be right over A good person to ask would be Iron Mike.

Isn't it neat how fishermen will step up to help out a fellow angler?

I'm wondering how Corbett missed this...

Hi, I'm here to help........a 6X was 8 foot, so that's not what it is, I'm guess a 2X or 3X, depending on what year it is. I don't think they made a 6X octy, does it feel like a 10-15# stick??

Ouch! Maybe an 8 footer that had an encounter with a car door?
I'm always on the lookout for old Sabres at swap meets and in the years I've been looking I've found very few that still had all their length.

Or maybe a mistake? One of my current projects has hypalon over the label & damned if I can remember if it's a 665 or 665H. Getting old sucks.

hehe...15#-80#. I love the ratings they put on back in the day. Of course, with the Truline you really COULD fish 80# with it.

Whereas I am astounded by all the goodwill and graciousness of those willing to take this piece of junk off my hands....I do live in Alaska...long drive.

About the model....all I know is the length (6'6"....maybe my tape measure is off), and what is handwritten on the blank...."Truline 6X" "15 to 80# test" "Custom for 'Bird'" and "The Jig Stop Dana Point".
Other than that I am ignorant.....a condition I find unusually rewarding at times.

Brian
