I just posted on the Rod Section about the Rod that I built for this Reel.
The purpose of this is a very heavy Calico Set up in the 12-15lb class. The Reel is capable of handling 190yds of 14lb test and 15lbs of Drag Pressure.
I spooled it up with PLine 15lb and I guess I have about 175 yds on it.
As you can see the Curado 300 is about 20-25% Larger than the Castiac. For those of you who are not familiar with the Castiac. In the past is basically the exact same reel as the Curado, but has a Thumb Engage bar on it...Which I love... I wished that Shimano offered the Castiac 300.
I am no Alan Tani, but I thought lets take this sucker apart, make sure that its Oiled and Greased Properly.
Put a couple of drops of Reel X in the bearings, Re greased the drags and slapped it back together.
Not sure if its gonna help or not, but in the event I hook into something larger than a Calico, I stand a better chance of landing it with the added line capacity and the greatly improved drags.
At least thats what I tell my self to justify buying it. Merry Christmas to me.
