Accurate ATD-12 handle vs the 30

I picked up an Accurate ATD-12 for my son to use on larger tuna. He is a little undersized to use a larger reel. Apparantly the grip is identical to the ATD-30 and 50 but the larger reels have a longer arm that is compatable with the ATD-12. I am tempted to put one of the longer arms on this reel. Has anyone tried this modification? If so did it make the reel easier to crank on big tuna or is the "normal" arm a more comfortable match?

I have put longer handles on a # of reels including Accurates.
Leverage is leverage, as your not jigging and looking for a rapid retrieve.

i have the ATD-6 and put the longer crank on it. yes it does make it easier, BUT, if it's for jr, he'll have a hard time shifting with his thumb, being the button is further away now.

pick your poison...
