toruim 14

will the new toruim 14 handle 25 pound line and if it dose do you need to back it with spectra or will it work fine with only mono??

I just got a 14 im going to do 40lb powerpro...and 25 or 20lb topshot..But if you wanted I think str8 mono will be fine..

If you fill with straight 25# mono you will get less than 200 yards on that reel. If that is all you think you will need then no backing required. I would fish that reel with straight 15# p-line, 285 yards. If it has to be 20 or 25 then definitely back it with 40 or 50 pound spectra so you can get enough line on it.

Got mine from Noahs. Kevan loaded it with 15lb p-line. I have caught 25lb yellows with it. Go with the 15lb like Kevan recommends it is the perfect setup. Good luck.

The Torium 14 shouldn't be a prob fishing #25. I use my Trini 14 with #50 spectra backing with about 100 yds of #20. But if i would use #25 in a heart beat if i had to.
