Looking for a new trolling reel

I currently have an Accurate ATD 50, which served me well last year with hooked threshers, makos, and marlin. But I would like to add another trolling reel in the same category as the ATD 50, but without spending as much as I spent on the ATD 50.

I like the cost and what I have heard about Avet reels, but I am not sure what model is in the same class as the ATD 50. Any information or recommended reel model would be appreciated.

Re: Looking for a new trolling reel

I think the Avet 50 SDS would work well for you. If you are going long range or fishing for bigger fish you may want to consider EXW50 or a TREX.

Re: Looking for a new trolling reel

Agree with the above but the 50SDS and 50 wide are much heavier and less ergonomic than the Accurate 50. I have both of them as well as the Avet pro 30. I personally prefer the 30 and 30 wide Avet. They feel very similar to the Accurate 50 and have very adequate line capacity with spectra backing. Have landed a couple of 200 pound yellowfin on the 30 and it was less tiring than on the 50. They also generate plenty of smooth drag for your targeted species. The 30 wide is almost identical in line capacity to the 50SDS. I have a red 50SDS packed with spectra that I plan to part with to pick up another 30. PM me if you are interested.

Re: Looking for a new trolling reel

Thanks for the information!

I will take a look at both the 50 and the 30. Both sound like what I am looking for, now it comes down to personal preference.
