I like the saltist 40 if you are going straight mono. Ebay has some great deals on new and used ones right now.

i fish my saltist 30TH with 150 yards 65# spec and 150 yards 30# Pline. I have fought 6 Yellowtail on it up to 25# and it still runs as good as day 1. I use it to cast A1's and 7xJr as well

WE SELL ALL THREE: SALTIST, NEWELL, AND TORIUM.
THE LEMON FACTOR ON TORIUMS IS FAR TOO HIGH. THE NEWELLS CAST GREAT, BUT HAVE SMALL DRAGS. WE'VE HAD ONE...MIND YOU 'ONE' SALTIST COME BACK WITH A PROBLEM. DAIWA DOES HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DISCONTINUING BAITCASTERS AND SPINNING REELS. BUT NOT THIER SALTWATER REELS. FOR THE MONEY THERE IS SIMPLY NO BETTER REEL ON THE MARKET.
AS FAR AS THE ROD GOES...FOR CASTING IRON WITH 30# I LIKE THE NEW BTG690-J CALSTAR. IT'S TOO LONG TO YO-YO WITH, HOWEVER.
I PREFERE TO YO-YO WITH 40# AND A SHORTER ROD. SOMETHING LIKE A GF7470 OR SS-6470.

Are you gonna fish straight 30lb mono on your reel or are you going to have some spectra on there as a backing. If you wanted to fish straight 30lb and be able to throw surface iron, yo yo iron and fish live bait I would go with the Saltist 40 ( not the high speed though) go with the lower gearing for cranking power. as far as rods go I would go with a 850M....just a great all around rod that you can do just about anything with. If you wanted to put some spectra on your reel you could go with a Saltist 30 backed with 50lb braid with a 75-100 yard topshot of 30lb.

OK folks I live here at san felipe, baja, as many of you know we dont get big fish in our area,so I was planning to get the saltist 30TH in order to get a better retrieve of line and faster crack for those deep bait fishing.. but i've found that a lot of you like the 30T or 30H for the torque power instead of High Speed.

I would you recomend me to buy for my area? 30TH or 30H ( I like the naroow style)
I also have into considering avet sx but I dont know if is really too small
