Re: Penn Baja and Penn Torque 300 what is each best suited to.....whats better ??

Yes, the metal star off the TRQ300 fits the Baja Special perfectly, optional addition of the small washer #004-300T under the star adds another pound or two of drag.

Forgot to add some line capacity info, some variance of course depending on brands of line, installation style and personal preference on line level.
TRQ300:

300 yards 65-pound spectra/140 yard 50 pound mono topshot
500 yards 65-pound spectra/10 yard 40 or 50 pound mono topshot

TRQ200:
300 yards 40-pound spectra/100 yard 30 pound mono topshot
250 yards 50-pound spectra/100 yard 40 pound mono tophsot
425 yards 50-pound spectra/10 yard 30 or 40-pound mono tophsot

We recently got the Torques in (first people in New Zealand)
Im disapointed
The drag isnt that impresive (compared to the hype and saltiga's) and wound right off there is still drag pressure on the spool

Denz,
Could you re-word that a little for us Yanks, not sure what you mean by "wound right off there is still drag pressure on the spool".

Steve, is the stock star on the 113HN in danger of breaking from simple use? For me that's fishing nearly stupid tight drags on Yellowtail yoyo iron and Wahoo bombs. Or is it just a problem if the rig falls and the star hits something? Cuz' I'm into having the bullet proof gear to start with and would not want to be without this reel in the middle of the trip.

Re: Penn Baja and Penn Torque 300 what is each best suited to.....whats better ??

All the breakage I have heard of has been from either the short production run of "bad" stars 3 years ago, which theoretically have all been replaced one way or another by now, or from some kind of hard impact.
Also, it may be that for awhile the metal stars are in short supply as people change over.
Local-only anglers probably don't need to do it at all, but at some point it might be good insurance for a long-ranger like you.
