Abu Garcia for 20#?? Get real...
Avet SX? A reel that can fish 50# without a dout?
If it is truly a 20# reel with no other application, get a newell 220 doesn't matter what letter, up your drags to ht-100's and never look back. If you want to catch calicos on monday and colonet yellows on wed, get the SX. But if you truly want a for real 20# no non-sense reel, you can't go wrong with a 220. IMHO

I still love my TLD5 and 10. Light weight, great drag. The TLD10 is a TLD5 wide. Awsome drag for a light weight level wind. Set it and forget it.

I agree with Dan all my TLD's are great year after year my choice for an all around 20lb rig would be the TLD 15. What ever you do stay away from the calcutta as they always need attention.

Conventional reel? Best options are the Penn 525 Mag, Daiwa SLX20 and Newell 220. Avet SX and ProGear 500 are nice too. All will take on all comers with 20# backed wih 30# spectra for less than $200. In a baitcaster, the Daiwa Millionaire/Luna 300 can be had for less than $200 and are very strong and smooth reels.
I'd say go with the Penn 525 Mag. Great casting and drags. The Daiwa SLX20 is similar. The Penn has better ergonomics than the Daiwa SLX20 (rotated gearbox) and the sideplate screws go into metal inserts rather than directly into the graphite like the Daiwa. The externally adjustable magnetic cast control is a nice feature on the Penn too. I use my 525's for 15# but wih spectra the can handle much heavier line.
For 20#, I use both a old ProGear 255 backed with 30# spectra and a ProGear 280 backed wih 40# spectra. Also a ProGear 251 and Penn 535 w/straight 20# mono (Both hold 300 yds of 20# CXX).

I use a TLD5 for 15 or 20# and a TLD10 for 25 or 30#. They haven't let me down in 20 years . My second choice would be the small Avet's. There a sweat reel too!!!!

Yep, Daiwa SLX-20HV with Trini handle. That's what I have and like it alot. Got it on sale for $70!
I also use it for #15 and #25.
Newell 220 is next on the list. Those are nice as well.

It also matters what you are doing with the 20lb. Are you fishing the kelp for bass and want to pull them out? When I'm trolling for chickens, there are usually a couple 20lb rigs out. For that, I want a SX size for capacity.
Matt, you don't think the Abu's can fish 20lb?
