Spectra to mono connections.

Hello,

Fairly new to spectra and have some questions.
Would a uni to uni connection be O.K. strength wise for 65lbs. spectra to 40lbs. topshot? What connections are you using?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Spectra to mono connections.

Uni to Uni is a good knot for 50# and under. You should not have a problem with it at all.

If you have hollow you can splice it, or use a bimini to allbright.

Re: Spectra to mono connections.

Spectra to mono! Forget that uni to uni! It's not the best, it will work on quick fights, not long drawn out battles.
"spectra"
1. Bibini twist (22 twists)
2. half hitch, on both sides
2. reverse uni
3.trim and burn
"mono"
1. Albright
2. Reverse uni
3. trim
NO SUPERGLUE!
It is the strongest knot out there. Learn to tie this and you will NEVER worry about your connection during a fight. I have seen underwraps and failed knots from the shops. Don't pay someone to tie "YOUR" gear. Learn this Knot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Spectra to mono connections.

Uni's in the light stuff and loop-to-loop topshots for 50# and over. Knots suck going through the guides even on rollers. It's easier for me to do a serve than it is to tie a bimini/albright combo and I can pre-make my topshots (yes even long one's) and have them on the reel in no time.

Sato crimps are the fastest to do a single use top shot and easy as hell.

Mark

Re: Spectra to mono connections.

I tie a bimini to albright for all my spectra backed reels. Only reason I do this is because Im very comfortable with my bimini and albright connections and have yet to have them slip. Hopefully the connection will never slip lol. I will use uni to uni though for the light stuff.
