So I first started fishing with the Penn 501, got pretty good at it and bought calcutta 400. Liked that reel a ton too but someone stole it off my rod on the Matt Walsh. Because there were a ton of other calcuttas on the boat I couldn't identify mine... so now I'm fishing 15 pound test on an International 975LD on a custom wrapped 9' PacBay rod. I like this combo for casting rubber and light jigs.

The Avet SX is pretty sweet for fishing bait and jigs but I dont like it for tossing plastic. My 20# bait setup is a Avet SX on a 8ft Shikari 8020. Its a pretty sweet setup for tuna and yellowtail too. The new Curado would be pretty bad ass for tossing plastic.

calcutta 400 with 15 or 20 pound test. just today at catalina i was having a blast fly lining macks with my 400 with 20 pound test. it does great
