I got a call from Roark ( the guy who makes decisions at Newell now) today and he said that my reels have been checked out and it seems that the drag material in all the 540 reels had fused solid. This has caused the reels to seize up and other components to in turn fail when the drag locked up.
he said they have never seen this kind of problem before and may be a result of a bad batch of drag washers. They are doing more research on when the reels were assembled etc.
The reason no one got back to me for so long was because he was out with health problems for the last month and he was the guy that needed to talk to me and make the decision on how to proceed.
He has assured me that however he needs to, Newell is going to treat these failures fairly and I can tell them how to make it right.
I was impressed with their willingness to fix the problem and make things right.

Some things are handled through private messaging. I can drag myself in all on my own if I want. Don't do anything on my account you are responsible for your own actions.
Anyways glad they are willing to replace with new reels, refund money, or whatever you want so you are satisfied. Good to hear.
