Harvesting the dog springs...

Picked up a magnetic "rake" sorta tool at Home Depot today to clean up after the FN contractors that worked on my house.

Occurred to me that this would be tres kewel to harvest the dog spring farm in the shag carpet...

Sorry, ain't gonna work on brass screws. Probly work for small stainless, tho. I'll give it a try.

And yes, if the magnet's powerful enough it WILL pick up a small stainless screw.

We just bought 3 of those 250lb pull magnets at Harbor Freight. $12 each.

Order 6 at a time from the OEM. Remember the brass strip spring on the old Penn reels?

Those magnets are really not that strong. They hold well but their reach is not that far. Even a large item like a cresent wrench needs to be about 2''s away to get picked up.

Yes. Never lost any of those.

Now the coil Squidder springs... I buy those 3 or 4 at a time!
