| Cal 2 speed conversions on Int'l 50?
Have an older 50 Int'l that works smooth. Cal wants $175 to convert to a 2 Speed. Is it worth it? With all the talk about the TLD IIs coming apart with big fish (I have a 30 II and a 50 II) I'm thinking the $175 might be worth it rather than just not use the reel. Any thoughts? http://www.cals2speed.com/price_list.html

Personally, I'd rather get a new reel that spins well and is a 2 speed from the box, rather than go through all the mods, etc. Maybe a Tiagra or SLT?

I was just looking for a way to make use of an Int'l 50 that would work good for Tsharks next year or maybe the elusive Elvis this year. Haven't heard much about Internationals blowing up.

convert it and also have him change the bearings and blue print it - the reel will spin great and will be able to fish heavy drag without any problems - the TLD's can't fish enough drag without losing freespool and have too much plastic in and around them to be considered a "Big Game Reel". Go see Cal - Go See Cal - Go see Cal -

What about the Daiwa SLD? I've got both the 20 and 30 and they're solid.

I have 3 50s that Cal has converted. I love them, use them almost as much as the 30Ts he has converted. Go for it, don't sell the reel and get one of those others.

Ok so I am exaggerating a bit, but they are proven for sure!
Ive been a Shimano fan for a long time now but when it comes to aluminum two speeds I will still take the International.
