Penn 6/0's, probably caught more troll fish than all others combined, hard to beat, literally. not saying tld or penn lever drag aren't good too.

I have every TLD made, OK only the lever drag nd high speed units. On the TLD-5 I landed a 85lb black sea bass. On my tld 20s I have landed 35-55 lb DODOs, 110 lb sail fish, 55 lb BF tuna. That is the small stuff. I have caught lots of stuff with the 30 and 50lrs, no breakage, no problem. I have heard of but not seen two 50s break at the foot. Promped me to research the aluminum frame conversion which is one of the easiest casting tank reels on the planet. Unless you can fine a beastmaster or triton 80w wench. As long as you stick within the Shimano rules, the reels last forever. Add the metal frame and take the TLD30 to 100+ lb capacity, awsome reel.
Just my opinion...

I've been using my KG15 for a few years now and it's been able to handle anything in SoCal waters. I like the lightness of the graphite and it has performed flawlessly. It's perfect for local trolling, if you do a lot of long range or international stuff you might want to stay away from the graphite as mentioned above. I brought in a 40lb Dorado two years ago in Cabo on a friends TLD, no complaints, I'm just not a Shamano fan.
I will be trying an Avet for the first time this year.
I know that they are expensive but does anybody have experiance with Accurate reels trolling for Albies?

Dan | JUST WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR.
Growing up in New Jersey we loved Penns. Hell...I grew up Union. Penns rule back east. I move out here...Shimanos...live bait...free ramps...fake boobs ...geez...
Anyway...I'm looking for a reel that will fish my boat..not LR. Don't want to spend a fortune on gear until after I get my GW.
Thanks for all the reply's...AND...the phone call from Eye Problem. Did you know Eye Problem caught Mr. T today and didn't report? Sorry Greg!
