Shimano reels

Looking for some information on replacing parts on smaller Shimano reels like Calcutta, Cardiff, Corvalus, etc. Any ideas?

I called shimano yesterday because I need to get 5 reels serviced. They told me it would take 4 WEEKS to get them back!! They suggested going down to Fishermans Landing.

Fishermans might not be any better but worth looking into. Iam fortunate to have a bro there.

I called them, they said it would take less than a week. I guess they have 2 full time guys that are dedicated to reel repair.

What's a drag washer overhaul been running you guys? I was considering looking it up and taking a stab at it.

Glenn Pamaran down in South Bay (Chula, Nasty or IB area) is supposed to do awesome work on Shimanos. Supposedly he does Fisherman's Shimanos when they get really busy. Sorry I don't have his number handy...

BTW, its not worth it to do anything but routine maintenance on Shimano's. Buying parts from them costs mucho $$$$.. $10 a pop for those little standard-sized bearings alone. If you send your reels to Shimano they will most likely go through the reel, replace anything that needs replacing and then charge you $15 for a cleaning and lube. They usually don't charge for parts. I've had them do a dozen or so reels for me and I was pretty stoked.

The word I am

getting is no more freebies at Shimano. They are billing for parts and labor on everything except warranty issues. Times...they are a changin.
