What would be a great rod to have this reel set up with , I would like to have a all purpose rod for it , Tuna , wahoo, or whatever big game fish comes my way.

I hear that the 700h is a good rod for wahoo, would it or could it be a good rod for tuna ? Would this rod be easy, to cast a bait with?

Thanks

I like the 700H and I fish 50 on it for wahoo.

As far as a "all purpose rod" , I know it will stand up to the task, on my last 10 day a 239#'r was caught on a 700H with 60#.

*** Please note it was NOT "the right gear" for the task but held up to some serious pulling by more than one person.

Here is a pic of the fish

I strap mine onto

a CALSTAR 800H and use it to whip jigs. May not be the manufacturers reco - but I love the balance and the way she casts on the longer stick. I seem to be able to control the cast with the thumb better on the narrow spool.

I like my 800h with around 4 inches cut off the tip.I like the jig stick style cork grip with shrink wrap with a aftco alum.reel seat for extra strength.Put a slotted gimbal on the but to prevent the rod from rolling on the larger grade fish.

not quite a fish like Brandans, but the eight footer and castability got me two of these guys on a tough day.

LOL....extended butt....got chuydawg's attn...

Jason

We must have the same wrapper....I got the same stick in a 7.5' for da hoo

The way it was explained to me is, they perma-bonded a piece of aluminum to the base of the blank to extend the overall length....I have mine cork wrapped and I can't tell where the insert starts....can't wait to pull the hoo's on this stick!!
