Upgrading penn 500

I'm converting a penn 500 to a tiburon frame and accuplates. I already upgraded the handle and changed the gear sleeve to a stainless one. I wanted to put a 505hs gear in it. Do i also need to change the pinion gear along with the main gear or can I just change the main gear. Thank you in advance. I know that many of you are asking yourself why the HELL would i upgrade a jigmaster 500 when they are a zillion other reels that are way better and would cost half as much as a converted accurate/tiburon jigmaster. I'm only upgrading to put it on display not to fish it. I'll stick with my avets for that!!!

Dude, I know that I'm going to put it on display and WTF do i need to change the gears for??? I'm gonna beat the hell out of that reel after I spent so much $$$$ money on it for a while. I will eventaully put it on display but i want to give it a shot at my local mutton snapper and black grouper holes to see what the big deal about the conversions are.

Nothing about the frames and sideplates will help with snapper in shallow water really. Except that it will look way cooler!!!

Frame and sides will make it stiffer and free spool nicer, take more drag though without warping.

Grease the drags (replace w/ ht-100s) , crank them all the way down, with a fuckin wrench ()and fish 40#.

Fish it til it blows up!!!! It wont

stainless gears will help

I would get a frame and the stainless gears.. Anything beyond that is waste IMO.... Maybe a better handle too..... Only reason I have anything better than the stock handles on mine is that I came into a large lot of penn power handles for cheap (Thanks Mike).....

Already got those in there I was just wondering if the plates were even worth spending the $$$$. I seem to agree with you that anything else is just a waste of money. The plates go for about 150.00.....I could almost pick up another single speed sx for that. Thanks a million for you're input
