REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!

Ok, im done borrowing my buddies gear to go jigging. I have been looking around for a reel and keep hearing bad stories about almost everyone I choose. So if you were to buy a new reel for jigging tuna to 150lbs what would you buy?

Accurate single or 2 speed?
Shimano Trinidad ?
Saltiga ?
Alutecnos?
Shimano Torsa?

I am really confused/undecided. I keep hearing stories of accuartes failing, I have a couple never had any trouble, but havent used them offshore either. Thanks

Stay away from the shimanos.... Both are overpriced in IMO... I've seen enough Trini's explode to never purchase one... The torsa's are overpriced as well... If you are looking for the best star drag, the saltiga is it... If you want a lever drag give the accurate 2 speeds and avet 2 speeds a look... Can't comment on the Alutecnos as I have never used one....

I am a big Penn fan, and as I have been using the same Internationals for 20 years, with a lot of modifications done by Cal. I don't see any reason the change. That being said, there are a lot of good 2 speed reels on the market. If you are thinking #150 class fish, you definetly want a 2 speed. I would take a look around and check out numerous reels. Avet, Penn, Shimano, Accurate are all great reels. With Spectra a 30 Class reel should do the job nicely with 100-130 Spectra as the backing.

Look for a deal on a used reel, you may be able to pick-up a good deal that way.

another east coaster. If you are jigging for tuna commonly falling into the 80-150# range, you absolutely want a two speed. You would not knowingly want to jig for fish that size with a saltiga or a trinidad as fish to 150# should be tackled with bigger gear. Both reels are capable of landing bigger models accidently hooked, but east coast fishing for bigger ones you want a real with more balls and a low gear. Im thinking an Accurate 30, Avet 30, or Shimano Tiagra 30 would be dyno. JMO

go with either the accurate 2 speed or shimano 2 speed. you are gonna kill yourself catching a 150lb yellowfin on a single speed reel most of the time.

Tiburon 16 or 20 loaded with 100# spectra and a wind-on leader. It's a two speed auto shift and it kills big fish fast

I'd try either a Saltiga 30T or Accurate 665N 2-speed loaded hight and tight with top-shelf spectra.
