Just picked up a shimano trinidad dc30 *EEK*... I think now I can cut off my thumb. OH WAIT! I still need it to hold down the spool when I cast! I have to remind myself I do not need to thumb the line. Just let her fly. Computer technology has caught up to fishing reels. On a precise cast the reel actually makes a beep noise. Like, beeeeuuuuup. I'm just tickled over this thing... This could be the end product in casting reels.

16 sized reels, consider the Shimano Tyrnos16II. 5:1/2:1 gearing and about the same line capacity as a Penn 16 for somewhat less. And it's topless, too.

I just bought the Tyrnos12II, got a good deal on it. Loaded with just under 300 yards of 60 lb JB Hollow and ready for a leader. I'll get back to you.

I'll agree with the quality but I question the value. It seems like Shimano keeps pushing the prices up and up to see just how much we're willing to pay. That said, I haven't had a Shimano fail (though I've seen a few others have the TLD reels explode/melt).

I have had a number of shimanos fail me when it mattered.. Every time it was an anti-reverse failure... I now fish avets and penns..... I've seen enough trinidads go knuckle buster that I will never buy one...
