Citica for the ocean

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if my freshwater reel will get ruined if I fish it in the ocean. I currently use a Shimano Citica to fish for sand bass or calicos. I can put enough line to fish in a depth around 150'. Would saltwater fishing eventually mess up this reel?

I use a citica solely for ocean fishing (calicos, sandies, spotteds) and i haven't had any problems with it. i have 30lb braid on it and can fish 150' no problem. just wash thouroughly after every use and you should be good! take apart and regrease/clean every few months or more for best performance
good luck!

Ditto that,

I have three citicas, and have not seen any problems in the two seasons I've been fishing them. do clean them up though after your trips...
