If it splices better for you, or you prefer it then that's fine but I don't think there is any test data out there to support that statement. Jb has 40#, and 50# hollow niether is spliceable as the core is too small. I don't think anybody makes a 50# or under that is spliceable. The 60# and up is spliceable, and I have never had a problem splicing with it. I must admit I have never tried the Blackwater though, and probably won't due to the price difference. In my opinion it cannot be that much better to justify the price differential. |

The Blackwater is nice stuff but too pricey for me.
I'll stick with LB Line One.

Their fluoro though is a whole 'nother kettle of fish! |

For me Power Pro.
I haven't tried JB. The others have not been nice to me. Stay away from Fireline. |

Name: Jim Age: 52 Vessel: Partial to the American Angler Location: Poway, Ca. Job:Keeping my boys in quality tackle so they won't use mine Bio: Glad one of my fishing partners got home from chasin the Taliban | Just a quick disclaimer; I am not an expert but I have used all of these and have talked with people that have a much better insight than I as to the different properties each one brings to the table. These are just my own observations
Power Pro has that waxy feel and is stiff. I use the solid for fishing 25 to 40 pound line tied with a albright. This has been a good fit and the price is not to bad. It does seem to be inconsistent in breaking test strength. It does cut through the kelp really well but after awhile it seems to really lay into itself......really need to wash this out after repeated use...dry and respool.
Have not tried the Power Pro Hollow.
Izor Hollow fluffs nice to allow a mono or flouro leader. I think I heard it is a 12 ct weave but it still has a nice tight fingercuff when pressure is applied. Easy to work with. Have only tried the hollow.
JB is what I use the most of for bigger line. Very supple and easy to work with. Very consistent in breaking strength. Love the 60 and 80 for lighter and 130 with a 200 splice for cows. Not much slip and fingercuffs nice and tight. I heard it was a 12 to 14 count weave.
Blackwater is nice. The high end of the spectra food chain but it is everything it is touted to be. I was told by the Blackwater reps it is a 16 ct weave and that would explain the fingercuff ( TIGHT ) and it is very easy to deal with....strong
Berkley Hollow - Very fluffy, lower weave count, use it for backing but take great care to make sure any connection is 100% as it doesn't cuff as tight as some of the others. When it first came out it was a great value but the pricing came into line with the others and it just doesn't match up in my opinion. Berkley Big Game is great mono and holds it's own with anything but the Hollow is hoping for name recognition to carry it.
I have not tried the Tuf Line but it is on my list of things to try this year in some fashion. I know I have a reel that I could put some on and fish to give it a decent evaluation.
I mentioned this after the Power Pro portion but I think it needs to be mentioned again.
When you are done fishing for the season or if you are going to have a really long gap between trips.........wash your spectra and dry it. Respool it tight and your ready to go for the next trip. Like anything else....if fail to prepare....your are just preparing to fail.
Fish Hard and tight lines.

Name: #%^&) !!! Age: 51 Vessel: my blood vessel Location: Cyber Sea Job:Infraction Collector | B/W comes in 16 & 12 weave. the 16 is smooth and is very workable due to the weave count.
B/W 12 is similar to JB who uses less than 16 weave. the 12 count JB & B/W doesn't work quite as smoothly as the 16 count. If i remember right, jerry said he has the higher weave but doesn't talk much about it.
i believe they are both made of Polyethylene now. so, all things being equal of the 12 count weaves *except the price* it's a JERRY BROWN kinda thing in my world...
