American Angler 5 Day 8-20 thru 8-25

Just got back from my second Chasin Tuna Charter on the AA; picked up our bait @ 1030 AM after Captain Brian examined every box they had to offer and took the best they had. Made it down to Benitos by 2PM and off the ridge at the north end of the Island we were able to nail 40YT to 33# by nightfall, but the seals were horrible! I've never released so many 5-8# calicos in my life, my buddy released at least a 10# toad, and we caught a 12# goat as well. We then made bait on the east side of the island then motored to the south end of Cedros where our next morning started. I fished the dropper loop first thing hoping for WSB but instead hooked the first of 160 Yellowtail 20-31# most on flylined greenbacks. Good solid fishing all day long, they would even bite the 50# flurocarbon. Ate dinner then headed up the line to south of the Cortez Bank for 130+ albies 20-34# most on bird schools. We had one - 50 fish stop in the mid afternoon. Cedar plugs best for trolling, 30# gear on the tuna. Great trip but too much traveling; Greg the cook on the AA and Nathan the breadman are better than any cruise ship I've been one, and Tony Todd Ray Nick and Brian are the best out there at what they do, we had a great time!

I forgot to mention the Islander was down there too with the Vagabond; one guy on the Islander stayed on the dropper loop all day for 3 nice butts but I didn't get the weights; hard to believe with all those yellows coming over the rail!
