Right on -
It is good to see fish reports!
Especially with Wahoo & Tuna in them this time of the year
"Mar. 17, 2006
Good morning folks, We never got an evening shot yesterday but continued to scratch wahoo through out the day. Picking off an occasional tuna through out the day, we finished with 15 tuna and 25 wahoo. So far this morning we have not had any shots at bigger size fish. A short time before daylight we picked up 9 tuna from 70 to 90 pounds. We see pretty good sign of fish here this morning and we are just now starting to pick at the wahoo. We are hoping for some kind of scratch on the tuna through out the day.

hey guys, just wanted to give a brief report on that trip. i went on the rooster from march 9th to march 25th. 4 days down and back. to break up the boredom, john loftus and larry martin did raffle giveaways and seminars. it was really cool of them to do that. once on the fishing grounds, we were the only boat out there since 3 weeks. wahoo fishing was at it's best. every time we trolled, wahoo came on the boat. the tuna bites were usually in the early grey bite for 4-5 fish, one or two during the day only on the kite, and at dusk. the biggest went 240lbs caught by jin chang on the kite. the 2nd went 200 something on kite and that same person caught one during the dusk bite on a spanish jack that went 200.6. the third place went 196lbs on the kite also. hottest ticket on wahoo was sardine on 30lb test with 27 lb wire caught by Pete with 36 wahoo for the trip. i joined the action also on my bass rod with 20lb test and 27lb wire. it was FUN. i did lose a definite over 200lber on the kite when it got stuck on either a gill net or structure on the bottom. the reel had a messed up drag but at least i had an oppurtunity. just like how andy said in the reports, it pretty much was that. night fishing didn't even exist. only time anyone fished at night was just after dusk on dropper loop. one guy did lose one that took about 200 yds in one run. a couple of potential 200lbers or bigger were lost. one the last day, i caught a 170lber with no harness on the kite. also caught a 150lber same way. being my first time out on a long range, i am totally hooked just like how you guys said. i'll try to post some pics up soon once i learn how to. we ended the trip with over 200 wahoo and about 56 tunas, 2 over 200 and 1 just under. other than that, 15 people on the boat really made a splendid trip.

Sounds like a great trip Jerry, especially with the light load... Enjoy the tuna and the wahoo.

Good to hear the report from you Jerry. Sounded tough, like our trip in February. This is actually a pretty typical trip to the bank or islands. It is simply the bar has been raised, 1st by last years Hurricane Bank trips that were excellent, and then the fall fishing that was phenomenal cow fishing.
