Dead thief is a good thief. |
AAA didn't offer horse insurance I guess. My brother is a recovering heroin addict. I think about what if that was him 10 years ago? And what if it were your brother or son? I'm not trying to come of as some softy. I did my time in the Marine Corps and was prepared to take lives if need be but we also were taught about escalation of force and when deadly force is authorized and necessary.

Funny stuff here especially the Nevada guy. I agree that it is not funny that the perp was killed, life is precious and can't be restored. He made a choice though and Houston police are not the most forgiving so I suspect there is more to it then she walked up and popped him in the back of his head. I am not going to google it to see since they let her go. Seems obvious to me.
Believe it or not most Texans go through their whole lives without shooting someone.
Beanbags made me laugh. Hell get a brick and throw it. When he sues you for personal injury for interfering with his livelihood he will have less injuries to claim unless you get a lucky hit. Sorry but if I ever have to shoot someone to protect myself, friends or family the more scattered body parts there are the better.
Under the same circumstances if I saw someone stealing my property I am not sure what I would do. I came close to finding out last July when part of my work stuff was stolen from my truck at a motel. If I had woken up and confronted them with a firearm things might have gotten bad. Yep I had one. The real decision occurs when you decide to arm yourself and confront them, once you do that then using lethal force becomes a very likely outcome if the thief decides not to run or lay down. If you are not prepared to use lethal force then having it is useless. The thief will just get more good stuff if all you do is show it to them. I guess you could hope he is from Nevada and would start shaking and quivering when he saw a gun but the odds are not with most of us on that.
As a footnote since she legally shot him to defend whatever it to me is a good thing she was able to use lead to shoot him. So if there is a vote I think we win, law abiding people can defend themselves and their property and we have better bullets. Don't you guys have to use non lead ammo in California?

Hell, it can happen in California too, just not necessarily for breaking in to a car..... Also, it doesn't say in this case if the homeowner will be charged with anything, but I doubt it, since the person breaking in had a gun too.....
El Cajon, California
From the San Diego News Network of September 15, 2009 Home invader shot, killed by apartment resident in El Cajon
El Cajon police Teusday investigated the fatal shooting of an intruder at an apartment complex in the East County city.
A man armed with a handgun knocked on the door of an apartment at 1499 Broadway shortly before 5:25 p.m. Monday, then forced his way inside when someone opened the door, according to El Cajon police Lt. Tim Henton.
An occupant of the apartment armed himself with a shotgun and shot the intruder, who died at Sharp Memorial Hospital at 6:30 p.m., Henton said.
Police did not immediately speculate on the motive behind the intrusion.
The intruder’s name was withheld pending family notification. |
