Cardioversion Tomorrow

Relatively simple procedure in an attempt to convert my heart back to a normal sinus rhythm after at least 14 months in atrial fibrillation.

Anybody here ever had this done? I am completely up to speed on the procedure itself - but can't find any real info about post-procedure effects or limitations. Any first hand info is appreciated. Thanks.

Wifes into Cardiovascular Caths etc. Too many variables to really give any advice, she did say, not to worry and stress yourself out. Huge success rate.

Meds didn't convert the A-fib? I don't go home with the patients, but I stand by during the proceedure. In 12 years of standing by, Nothing interesting ever happened. Outpatient proceedure, don't get worked up worring......... Can I have your fishing gear?

I've had it done twice. they put you to sleep and when you wake up it's time to go home. You feel a calm in your chest, you want to sleep. my chest felt like it had a very bad sun burn, soreness in the area, went away in a few days.
good luck

Exactly. After all the pre-procedure ritual (chest x-rays, INR, etc.) piece of cake. I looked at the clock when the doc says, "You'll feel some warmth in your arm (from the dope) and it was 10:20. At 10:40, he was telling me it worked. First zap at 125 (jewels?) was a no go. Second zap at 200 did the trick.

Kind of like getting a new set of tires. Still the same ride you drove in, but it sure does feel better when you get out on the street.

Peace.
