Sciatic nerve is flaring up, anybody get this problem?

Yesterday, my Sciatic started flaring up and the pain is pretty intense all the way down my left leg to my foot. Anybody else get this problem, and if so, know any home remedies and or stretches to alleviate the pain. I'm hoping drinking a lot of beer today will dull the pain, but it was difficult to sleep last night. I would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

Been there done that. Flat on your back on the floor, bring feet up flat with knees bent.
That will be comfy for ya.

One word--YOGA. After I did yoga for several months after my last attack have not had it again.
It was so bad the front of my leg went numb.

I got a blown out disc in my back and get that feeling quite often. Like mentioned above, lay on your back and put a couple pillows under your knees so that you are in a position similar to sitting in a chair but on your back.

For stretches to help the pain, the sciatic strech. Get your left leg/foot and bring it over to the right side your right knee. With your right hand grab your let knee and pull it to the right. this will stretch out your sciatic nerve and ease the pain.

Don't be afraid of the surgery, if you let it go it could be permanent scar tissue. I'm 3 weeks out and riding one of my road bikes again.

I lay on my back and pull my knees up tight to my chest to stretch out the lower back. Ibufrofen (Advil) helps relax, and is more effective than aspirin. Lot's of beer is probably O.K. for the pain, but if it contributes to lazy posture, you'll be worse off after the beer wears off. If you're standing, try pushing the small of your back against a wall. If there's no wall, don't slouch.

The exact same thing happened to me. It just takes time and as much rest as you can get away with. The doc gave me pills which did nada.

knees on the floor like girls push ups. arms straight, now let your back arch and relax- like a sissy push up position. My sister is a physical therapist and I tried it. Really helped.

Also, move that fat wallet to the front pocket.
