Last night, my Black Lab, Noir (I call him BoMar) was bitten by the only poisonous snake in Japan, the 'mamushi'. Many people did from this snake every year in Japan, and I often see them when I Ninja bass.
Noir is back home with us, and is doing better.
He got bit on the leg. The doctor shaved his leg to revile two distinct, round fang marks.

His left leg is still swollen twice as big a normal, from his paw, all the way to the left side of his chest.
The doc said since he is young, strong, and has 90 pounds of body weight, he will survive.
Noir got bit in front of my house, when I was taking him on his nightly walk. He was walking at my side, on a paved road, next to some small farms/gardens. He immediately collapsed, so and since his leg was so swollen, I though he had broken his leg. But he had not fallen.
The doctor did a blood analysis to revile the culprit--a mamushi. They also checked his liver, because that is where snake venom will do damage, but everything seems ok.
It was pretty traumatic for our family, but he is starting to eat (which is good, because that is where we put his meds).
He seems to be getting better.
