Last year this discussion came up and it seemed they were quit productive... Friday was tough fishing and we got pick clean to get 3 butts....
We used Shad, tuna bellies, 4 packs of black label, and a 5 lb box of calimari....
I went out to Ebay and bought 28 of the 10" saltwater squids. Those of you who use them do you squirt any juice on them or just use them plain?
I think I will have to take bait with me until I get confidence, but I am sure going to give it hell.....

We pretty much use it exclusively. Mostly the smaller stuff but have tried the larger squid for Halibut and Yellowtail. It tends to work well right out of the bag. The guys at the Fred Hall show down here from Berkly said to use the big leadheads and rig like you would a swimbait. We also have threaded the line with a Mosquito hook through and lightly attached it back into the body. This makes it semi-weedless. Used a sliding egg sinker in front to get it to the bottom. Again mostly fishing for smaller bass, halibut, rockfish down here but worth a shot. Good luck.

I have some of those YUM 6" baits that came with the YUM injector, but have yet to use them. Course' I gotta get out there on the pond to use them first!

Use a bait threader and slip it right on your regular no-excuse hali rig. Maybe a little garlic scent to spice it up if you want.....

Gulps are magical for Swifsture hali. We use the blue mackeral/herring Gulp swimmers, and the Blue Gulp strips cut in half. Dynamite for chickens.

The Gulps are too rich for my blood. I came across these Williamson Trolling Squids at Fishermans, 4 for $12. 10/0 Circle with the shank inside the squid head, and 10/0 Circle stinger trailing... Worked perfect on Saturday at the Ranch. Williamson Live Squid - from Melton International Tackle

Williamson Live Squid - from Melton International Tackle | I agree on the price, but I scored!!!! I went onto E-bay and found a tackle store getting rid of a bunch of them.... I bought 28, 10" saltwater squids for just over $60.00. They still have the price on them..... they were selling for $16.50 each..... I got them for just over $2.00 each.... I have enough to last several seasons!!!
