Herring Problem

Well hitting a log really does more internal damage to an outdrive than you think possible.

Insurance replacing entire outdrive
gimbal bearing
rubber boots and prop

Upper shaft twisted out of alignment
prop shaft .07 out of round
Lower unit made into the shape of an egg
Skeg bent 35 degrees

Re-align motor to new outdrive check coupler

Onlything I really hate, it just takes timeto get everything put back togeather. I am hoping for next week so I can hit Astoria salmon one more time this year.

then I will winterize her and be ready for next spring.

Well, good news --a new complete mercrusier outdrive and parts are somewhere between Altanta GA and Bend Oregon on a truck.

Insurance picked up everything, leaving me with small deductable.
Even paid for a new prop instead of refurbishing.

So next year we start with new.

Hurray! the boat and the outdrive unit ar both at the marina and being installed this morning.
Ordering new prop, sold the reapired prop and will get her out for one sea trial then shuter down for the winter.

Lookin forward to being back out again. But new rule Do not leave dock until you can see better, dark mornings are hard on the eyes, less the outdrive.

Took her out on the Bouy 10 for a days fishing, ran great. All healed up now.
Drove back home thru a white out snow storm.
Got her winterized and put away, now need to get her washed.
