Thumbs up Little Italy Halibut

Sunday My son Vince and friend Mike were going for Tuna out of Garabaldi, It was not nearly as nice as Saturday with the wind chop but we went on anyway. About 25 miles out I decieded to go to Halibut Hill instead of pushing another 25 miles more to look for long fins.

I got out there and we dropped two rods down. 1 with a spreader bar and Tuna Bellys. The other rig was Mark Mc Ultimate Halibut Rig with Gulp Squids. They both hit bottom about the same time and Bam FISH ON!!!

Mike starts reeling and the fish starts peeling line. He has caught Halibut over 70# in Alaska and says this fish is bigger that that. About 1/2 Hr later he gets it close to the boat. We start to see it and I get the Harpoon ready and hand it to Vince. He sticks the Halibut with the harpoon perfectly and then the fish starts down for a little bit. Vince starts to pull it up and we see a shadow of a nother fish. I'm thinking shark but when it gets a little closer we see another Halibut (Even Bigger than the first one) I grab the net and try and hold it by the boat until we get the first one in the boat. Then we get the second one onboard too.

1st one was 50" - 60#

2nd one was 52.5" - 68#

Both on one rod.

Thanks Mark McClick the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.
