Springer season was fantastic!

Did my last hurrah up at Bonneville yesterday. Great way to end a blast of a season on the CR this year. Only wish it could last another weekend though but I cannot complain to much. don't wanna be a .

Pop's had an exceptional season this year and was really on a roll and found fish over 80% of his trips this season. Pretty easy to do when there are this many fish around. The dam counts form yesterday were 2600 and they should really start smoking upward this week as the water warms a bit more. This cold weather is not helping though so it may prolong their stay below the wall.

I've had a great year myself and have nothing to complain about other than being married to my job and not being able to take a day during the week to fish. However I really enjoyed fishing after work a few times this year. Really helped to take the edge off and leave my troubles behind. Especially on the evenings we actually boated fish.

Gearing up for the switch to the saltwater and fishing halibut in a couple of weeks. Have some boat work that needs to be done prior to getting out there on the salt. Need to do a shakedown cruise this coming Sunday and give the boat a good once over.

Still lots of springers around for the taking in the tributaries but a fresh halibut or two would certainly be nice.

Bernie-
Thanks for the eggs on Saturday. We went 2 for 4 with your stuff. Missed two more on M2's and missed one more on another version of eggs.
We saw you guys stand up for number three on Saturday and I thought, "great, we're gonna hear about this..."
Sure enough, the text messages and hazing started rolling in... Nice work! I've always wanted to deal with lap traffic on Saturday morning...

And it's not over with! Garbage Hole in the evenings, Wind River on the weekends. What's a halibut?

Yep! Damn good season. And the fish quality was the best I've seen this far upriver. Some of them we boated at RI were still wearing lice.

Hopefully a ton of them will cross the dam before 10 May so they can open it up again. We always catch some late fish when they reopen..

Dave, it was all in good fun this year. Chad was an easy target and believe me I felt for the brother as I have been there and done that in the past. It is still fun to go but it sure can be frustrating when others around you or even in your own boat are hooking up big time and you have your lip draggin on the bottom of the boat. Chads a good sport and took the razzing like a man. He can dish it back at me during tuna season.

BTW I did see him catch his very own fish yesterday. Must have been those eggs again.I don't usually hand those out to anyone but............he just looked so darned pathetic Saturday after we fished a limit by 845.

BTW Glad you were there for him. Don't let him fish alone.

No shit...keep an eye on Chadwick!

I'm thankful to have received yet another hand out of fresh fish from our salty brother!

I hope he still has a girlfriend. She got a real taste of being a springer widow the past few weeks. Time to spend a little weekend on her and make her happy.

Those little juicy suckers were just what the doctor ordered. Big Red was getting the bites needed all season up there until Saturday so I was very pleased with your gift. And I only had about 5 baits left when I got there on Sunday but it only took 2 to get my fish. I’m so happy I ended the CR season that way and shook off that crazy Saturday trip. My boots are still wet…

Your good deed will not go unrewarded. After hearing how Carl (Pops) loved that smoked Salmon I gave to him I’ll be sure to drop some by your shop. Thanks again.

And Theresa pulled through the season with flying colors. She doesn’t really know about Wind/ Drano yet but I’ll cross that bridge when needed. And then we’ll be into Halibut. Damn, this could get sticky, time to pick up some bling for her.

Ease up there GT. She is getting me up at 4am tomorrow (I followed BeerWaggin’s idea with the Blond alarm clock) so I can spend another day on the water. Bud and Dave know what kind of craziness she has been putting up with the last month. Heck, even I think I need a few less days on the water and few more in the office…

Looking forward to some salt action soon. How is the house coming along? See you in a few weeks out on the hill.

Chad, we are in the house. There is still some stuff to do and little shit to fix, but we are in. We'll have a get together when the weather gets a whole lot better than what it was today. It is snowing down here. Glad to hear you guys got into the springers.
