I agree that the tax and the government intervention is BS. There are already hundreds of agencies in place to take care of the planning and implementation of whatever we each need to do to reduce the damage. In fact they should be combined and reduced to a few specialized entities. They all compete for funds and I believe that leads to the embellishment of the situation.
Our belief, as humans, that we have the
right to impose our behaviors on the planet in any self indulging way we please proves the arrogance that will expedite and most likely worsen the natural progression of the cycle.
I believe we need to be proactive amongst ourselves, and that the government should not have control of this issue. As for "follow the money" you are correct. After the last gas "crisis" the SUV was developed because everyone was driving a small car, car sales were down, hence the new family wagon. Well now just look around the parking lot and what's on sale at those funky mom & pop used car lots...SUV's and the new mid, small, and hybrid cars are selling like hotcakes. HMMM. The Edison Co just changed out all of our ballasts and light bulbs to the "enegery friendly" ones
FOR FREE ON THEM and we have quite a few. It's some "pollution credit" byoff I suppose. ANOTHER HMM. And that's just 2 examples.
So yes, we are between a rock and a hard place as to what to believe and what to do about it. The one thing I can see is that we need to DEMAND accountability of our elected officals and stop letting them bolster their own personal agendas on our backs, by instilling fear.
