catalina 9/01 report

Left davies at 5:00 am, got bait at nachos just to find out that mackerel were everywhere you could walk on hem.
Made macks and off to the west end, got there and could not get away from the seagull, they kept raping my bait, got pissed off and injured a few seagull and left for farnsworth bank. Nothing there either except a cattle boat rockfishing, must sucks to boat all the way to catalina to rockfish

Ended up around boiler rocks and picked 2 Y/T one around 20 lbs and the other one 13 lbs, not worthy of picture.
Got countless bonito on the dines. Y/T don't seem to want the DINES.

Went to my Ling secret hole and my friend hooks on a huge ling, at 40 inches, I tell the moron to not lift the head out of the water and what does he do, lift the head right out, lings shakes and gone it is right before I was able to put a gaff on it . had to give him the lecture I gave Robert/

Left at 2pm and took us 2.5 hours to get back swell were huge, saw a 19ft center console on the way back and ask them if they wanted to buddy boat just to make sure they were going to get back OK. They refused and gone I was. Man, lucky I am no longer the happy owner of a 19 footer. We took water over the bow on every drop.

For you guys going tomorrow, leave early, like noon...

weather turn SH^%*ty really quick, saw the coastguard heli as well, I don't think they were out joy riding.

Slow troll your mack at around 60 feets, Trailer will help more hook up, I didn't have it and farmed a few when I got picked up.

Nice work. The yellows are on the squid at the island. Its been tough at CAT if you dont have it. Unfortunately, the squid is really hard to get. There isnt much of it at the island right now.
