6-14 277-209-181 shark attack!

Left O-side towards the 277 in sloppy conditions.Stopped on some small empty patties.Water was green till about the 209,it got a little better but not much.Trolled towards the 181.No jig stops. While stopped on a paddy,a pod of dolphin came by.Had a bait soaking and as soon as they got to us i was picked up.Gave it some line and set the hook.It gave a short run and threw a few head-shakes then I started to get a few cranks, then it took off and did not stop.65# braid w/ 30# top shot.spooled/owned.Tried to give chase, not soon enough..ping.I thought dolphin were to smart to bite a hook?Bruiser bluefin?Found a paddy that was holding 8# yellows.Had a shitty ride home.Ate shit on the slimy ramp Last weekend my step-father got bit by a shark."Your my boy blue"Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

Re: 6-14 277-209-181 shark attack!

Here is something to try next time you get a small to medium Blue shark and are ready to release it......... I call it the blue donut ....... you take the blue shark and grab the head and put it's open mouth (it will be open) and place the mouth around the base of the tail. The shark will then clamp onto it's own tail and then you throw it back into the water and 7 times out of 10 it will just hang onto it's tail till you lose sight of it. It eventually will let go of it's own tail and it really does not bite into it's tail hard enough to do any harm to itself.

Just A little harmless entertainment when you are getting those pesky blues.

good post. Ive done the blue doughnut before. Next time flip the shark over and rub its belly, it will just lay there. Just dont flip it over with your hands anywhere near its mouth.

Good post but extremely difficult to read due to horizontal array of pics.

Re: 6-14 277-209-181 shark attack!

Hey Brother,
It could have been anything?? Once and only once in my entire fishing career have i seen a dolphin grab a bait it was on the east coast a juvinile grabbed a mackrel and it was a short lived fight they are much to strong he was gone after a very short run the line was on one side of the boat and the dolphin on the other it happend so fast it took a min. to register what was realy going on. last year on the 277 i got picked up on 40lbs 3 times on one patty and wasn't hanging on or giving chase That area does hold BIG fish certain times of the yearDeath_To_
