| I am Fired Up!!!!
Spring is here, and I am fired up this morning! I was out on the PQ this weekend, and will give you a little repport here. Our first day we fished the Rojos. Probably the best fishing I have ever seen on those things. As far as numbers and size, it was phenomenal. We went into San Martin Island for the evening, only to be greeted with brown, 56 degree water. The decision was then made to pull anchor at midnight, and head the rig offshore. We were about 40-50 miles west of the Island, in a line of kelps that produced a bluefin tuna, another kelp for one yellow, and another for 9 yellows. After heading north for five hours, we found not one more kelp. Too bad since we were still in the same water. By this I mean, there was no difference in temp., clarity, or color for over 60 miles! This is very good news. What is even better news is the water that the Taft Bros. found their albies in, about 50-70 miles west of us, is the same water. What does this mean? Hopefully those albies will swim thier way into the beach, and migrate up the coast. This makes for a better and longer albacore season. Water temp was 62.3- 62.7 degrees, clean to slightly cloudy blue. I am also firesed up about all the WSB being caught in the channel islands, but unfortunatly will not be able to go fishing until I get back from the East Cape next week. Looks as if the Roosters are on the prowl, and I really, really , really, really, really, want to catch one of those. Any info or tips on Roosters will be very much appreciated. Spring is here, and boy am I fired up!!!
