Launched from SI around 5:00 and headed to the Bro's for bait with Mike with Yellowtail and Albacore dancing in our heads.
Was the 4th one in line for bait. While waiting I heard something by the bait tank that was not right. Had Mike have a look to find out the exit hose was torn off the tank and water was spilling 1/2 on the deck and 1/2 in the transome.
We decide to take 1/2 a scoop instead of a full and manually regulate the water in the tank. The plan generally worked, but at times we would forget to add water into the tank and the water level will get to 3 - 4". In the end, we would not need the bait.
Stopped on approx. 7 - 10 paddies between the 9 and 302. All were empty. Continued West, South and North with the same results. Water was a deep blue and by my gauge 63.1 to 63.5 deg. all day. Must of stopped on over 20 paddies with over 1/2 of them nice sized brush (bath tub or bigger). I did not meter any bait or fish on all paddies.
Worked the area with Lucky Charm. It was nice talking and communicating. Last I heard, he was finding the same results. However, he was metering 61 deg.
Ended the day in the PL kep where Mike pulled in 1 nice sport coat.
Boat ran great. Now I need to figuare out how to fix the bait tank.
