Sportfishing Wednesday 7-8-09 60 to 80 miles

My brother called, to tell me to get my boat ready. He does various maintenance on the Holiday. He said most of the sportfishing boats, out of Pt Loma. got limits yesterday. The Holiday is leaving on a 3 day. Has anyone else heard the same story yet? I went out to the Hidden bank when the weather was up. I have not filled up the boat with fuel. Need to get some donations to go out again.

238 spot 65 miles from San Diego

Looking into the reports on this site, I guess the sport boats are down by the 238 spot. I would like to wait to see if they continue or start moving northwest, before I spend a lot more $$$ for fuel.. Anyone going out this weekend and how far. It sounds like the paddies were holding. Anyone have any other fish dope??

Wind is suppose to pick up this weekend. I'd wait one more week. We hit the Hidden a couple weeks ago for nothing but bad weather.

Aaron, I think we both were out on that day. Those kind of trips take a lot out of you. I have not fueled up the boat yet. It should take about $200 plus dollars for the last trip and at least the same for my next trip. Next time someone wants to go Tuna fishing, money up front, is the magic that makes it happen. My brother started to joke with me saying I have plenty of money. Problem is I have not found the money yet.

I just returned from a 4 day this morning with limits of Blue Fin Tuna and albi. It was stupid at 179 miles. WFO iron fishin for albies and 1 Blue Fin Tuna on the iron.

We did find a school of Blue Fin Tuna at 47 miles from the point on the way out.

Folks the season has begun.

Be safe and go get em over

fish dope has a great map of recent hot spots-like all of the last week--updated daily. I might be up for a trip if you go out next week--Tuesday or Wednesday. Depends upon if Boat Depot has any delays in getting my engine fixed. Mike
