| 10-27 YFT on Return from Coral
We left Thursday evening for our last trip to the Coral for the season. Weather was great and it was nice to get away from the smoke for a bit. We got a late start on Friday so we headed out to the Banda bank. Water was cold there, 61 degrees so we hit some of the other banks around there. Picked up 4 Skipjack and 1 Yellow Fin Tuna.
The next day it was time to hit the water and take the boat back to Huntington for the winter. We again got started later than we had hoped and left the Coral at about 8:45. We wanted to make the boat ride worth while so we headed out the the Finger Bank to stay more on course. Water was cold there too so we headed to the 425 where we had heard reports of just a couple Yellow Fin Tuna. Dropped in the trollers in 64+ degree water a little West of the 425 and quickly picked up some Bonito. There was a good temp break that we just continued to follow North. Kept getting Bonito so we decided to give it 5 more minutes because we had a long boat ride ahead. 5 minutes was up and time to wind 'em in. Just before I picked up the second to last rod, they both went off - and these were a bit more bendo. Finished the fishing with these 2 Yellow Fin Tuna.
Then we headed to US Customs in SD. They seemed as if they did not know why we stopped. Don't think we will be doing that again cuz it took us 1.5 hours from entrance to the harbor until exit from the darn kelp forest.
Had a couple of boat issues on the way back, but fixed those. Listened to the whole World Series game on the radio. Got to HH just after 10pm. Long boat ride, but an adventure. Can't wait to go back to the Coral next season. That place is top notch!
