43 Almost Skunked

Well looks like I blew it with my decision to sleep in a little before heading out. By the time we got bait and left Oceanside Harbor it was 0530. With me my crew consisted of Salsa and JIGMISTER. We made 3 or 4 stops on paddies on the way out in which I was able to pull one nice 30lb. Yeller out of his bush to save my day but by the time we got out to the Albacore grounds it was around 10.30 and the bite seemed to have died down. We first worked around the SC buoy for Zippo and then headed out southwest to work with Hanna and Hard fishing. There we got our only single Albie for one long day of trolling. We called it day around 3.30 and ran for home with our tails tucked behind our legs. Still all and all it was a great day and you couldn’t beat the water conditions and it was nice to be able to run home at speed. Here are a few pictures of my Yeller.

We worked hard and put (almost) all of our time in, but it wasn't our day.

Nice 30# yellow. I have never seen one with so much girth. It looks more like the shape of the New Zealand yellows. I cought one that long at San Lucas cove that weighed less than 10#'s.

We will do it right next time.

Cool Nice Mark!

That is one fattie of a Yellowtail! Look at the gut on that thing, nice!

It was tough out there yesterday in that general area, lots of good boats and fisherman came up short, so dont feel too bad.
