081007 Drove 140 miles for a fat chick

Worked east of the fly and aroud the east fly high spot with the fleet for 1 fat albie (35lbs). Fish are there but they were scattered and were up and down. Checked out the 60 and had one more jig strike out there. Then worked back up toward the fly. Slow day for us. Most exciting part of the day was finding a big spot of Yellow Fin Tuna under birds around 5 PM inside the fly. Slid in gently on them, they stayed up & we watched them crashing all around right next to the boat, some had good size - maybe 30 lbs or so but they would not take dines or anything else we had to offer. I see this every year when the Yellow Fin Tuna first start showing. I'd love to know what they are eating right now.

Most all of the radio talk was slow but there were a couple guys in the same area who reported 8 - 18 fish.

Nice weather, fun day.

Here's Romme, his bro and his nephew with the chick we picked up.

Rumor has it to take your frozen fresh dead squid and use it.
I hear they love this stuff.
Not tried it yet, but carry mine every time I head out just in case I come across what you just described.

We caught one (20#) on a natural cedar plug last weekend- the magic lure. They were under a herd of dolphin at about 50ft. Water was really milky green so maybe that worked to our advantage.
