Late Report - Vagabond 4 day 7/25

Finally got around to posting the trip I took a week ago. The group was the same for the last 8 years. (Tiny's Group) Met up with the guys on Wed. and headed out at noon, picked up some great looking bait and started off-shore. Headed a little south and west and hit the fish grounds around 4 -5pm. Saw the first boil and hit it perfectly, but no bites.. This was not a good sign for the trip, fish all over and no bites. We did manage a few the first day and some Yellowtail from a couple of paddies. But we did not knock the dead by any means.. The 2nd day started out better with a few strikes, still no big hook ups.. Got a call from the Cortez, they had a man down and needed our EDU so we made a quick change in course and got it to them, but we later heard the man did not make it. Coast Guard chopper came out but it was to late. The rest of the trip was most of the same a fish here a fish there.. After 4 days we ended up with 57 Albes and 12 Yellowtail, not the best trip ever. I have never seen so many fish that would not bite. I think we have cleaned out the gene pool of all the stupid tuna and onlt the smart ones are left. Also saw too many of the giant squid, in the middle of the day boiling. Could not get the camera in time to catch it, but saw them boiling behind the boat at 1PM in the afternoon. Here is the link to the pictures from the trip. Just want to say what a great boat the Vagabond is and the crew did a great job. Mike did everything he could to put us on the fish we just couldn't get them to bite. Will go back next year and make up for it.
