Well, this is a late report of my two-day charter. Been away from the computer for a few days but I figured I’d still post some pictures.
Got down to the landing Wednesday night and started throwing back some beers. Got a pizza delivered to the landing (a first) and meet up with just about everyone on the trip. Some of the guys I haven’t seen in a few years so it was good to catch up. We checked in at the office and loaded up. I got stood up by a few people on the trip, so we left with only 22 anglers. Nice light load on the Holiday. Some of the bloodydeckers on the trip were myself, Dexloy, Apocalypse13, kerchunk, hustler, & buttchaser.
I gave a talk about simple tactics, what to do and not to do, and handed out the charter shirts. Two of the guys on the trip are regular boat-ho’s on my sled. The one guy Allen (Dexloy) gets harassed quite a bit for wearing gloves on a fishing trip so, he got a pink shirt!

Apocalypse13 was also on the trip and he too got a pink shirt since he’s my boat bitch!

Infamous quote of the trip from the pink shirt team, “You know the difference from me and you, I make this look good!”
I put on the pirate hat and so the trip had officially began!
So, we get bait and rack out for a bumpy ride south. Man, it was rough. Caught air in the bunk most of the night.
Day one:
Motors shut off and I roll out of bed. Chris (deckhand) starts a chum line and two of my buddies throw out. Instant hookup! I got a bait in the water and it’s game on! Nice gray light bite. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in one of those. We put a few fish on the deck but a lot of guys are still in the rack due to the rough seas. I decide to take my hung over ass back to bed and sleep it off.
We kept trolling getting jig strikes and a few baitfish for the rest of the morning and then it shut off until later in the afternoon.
Around 3:00 the fun began. Nice jig strikes with the school charging the boat. At one point, everyone on the boat had a bait fish hanging!
Had three guys pop their albacore cherry and all of them ate the hearts.
Ryan had a little trouble keeping it down but got it done.
Also my friends 5 year old son (Apocalypse13) caught his first albacore. Michael was a lot fun to have on the boat!
Trevors first albacore and heart:
Robert (kerchunk) hooked a nice yellow on 22 lb yellow off a paddy and it would be on the only yellow of the trip.
When we had a lull in the action, I decided to do the raffle. Gave away 18 salas 6x jigs, 5 gift certificates from Squidco, a few packs of Owner flyliner hooks, and three awesome sticks wrapped by Anthony of Apocalypse 13 rods. Just about everyone walked off with a raffle prize.
Day ended with a little nicer seas and somewhere around 50 fish on the boat. I decide to stay up for awhile and screw around with the crew. Ended up hooking an estimated 500lb mako but lost it pretty quick to breaking the 80lb main line above the steel leading. Still fun to pull on the big bitch.
Dinner was chicken flourentine, rice pilaf, dinner roll, and a nice ice cream desert. Stuff was good and there was too much to finish.
Day two:
Started off with one bait fish at greylight. Same story as the first day except the seas were a lot nicer. Jig fish here and there and a few bait fish on the stops.

Lots of cadillacs rolling around with tuna pens in the area. Looked like something out of a war zone with all the ships, helicopters, and airplanes. Reinforces the reason the bluefin are so skittish. My pops hooked up on a nice fish and took the second day’s jackpot.
Started working our way back towards home enjoying the company of friends, the nice weather, and the cold beers. Got one last jig strike and I throw out a anchovy. Instant hook-up and the last fish boated on the trip. While the fish was at deep color, had a nice big school of bluefin breeze under the boat. I’ll have to go back to that are.
Dinner was awesome, nice, rare, t-bone steak with all the fixings. Man it was good! Nothing like finishing the trip with a nice, big meal.
Overall, it was a fun trip with good friends. This was my first time as charter master so I learned a lot. Everyone had a good time and worked together to get fish on the boat. It was good to fish on the Holiday again. I know the crew and captain and they’ll bust their ass to put you on fish. I always have a great time fishing with them. People are already asking about next year so I’d say the first annual No Ma’am charter was a hit!
Just like to say thanks to Anthony from Apocalypse13 Custom Rods for the 3 sticks, Joey @ Squidco for the 5 gift certificates, and Ali for getting all the shirts done in a short time.
I have more pictures coming in and I'll add them as I get them.
